We know that the benefits of a yoga practice reach far beyond the physical. The emotional, mental and spiritual guidance that many of us gain from this ancient tradition can be life changing. I, myself, constantly remind myself to be grateful for this practice. I am grateful that it was introduced to me. I am grateful that I have the means to attend a studio that I love and grateful that yoga can be a regular part of my life. I also remind myself that many others may not have this opportunity.
Inspired by International Yoga Day (a day dedicated to spreading yoga far and wide), Yogahood Australia decided to give regular yogi's the opportunity to give thanks for their own practice, and pass that gift onto others. And so the Give to Give campaign was born.
Give to Give is founded on the notion of seva, or selfless service, drawing on the idea that we all owe a service to one another; to contribute whatever we can to make the world kinder, softer and more accessible for every person. Yogahood Australia, along with our generous studio partners, are asking for small donations (either in studio or online) so that we can continue to bring yoga to communities in need, and to individuals who may not have the means to access a practice in a studio setting.
It can be difficult to open ourselves up to gratitude. To be grateful is to acknowledge the gifts that you have and to be thankful for them, but it can also mean acknowledging the gifts that others don't have, and in our current climate, this can feel completely overwhelming and guilt-inducing. It's easy to feel disempowered and as though whatever tiny thing we can contribute will just be a drop in the ocean. Through the Give to Give campaign we want to remind you that the entire ocean is made up of tiny drops of water, and that your contribution makes a huge impact on our organisation, and on the lives of the communities we serve.
Give to Give invites you to be grateful for the gifts that yoga has given you and provides you with the opportunity to pass that gift on to a community in need.
There is just one week left of our campaign, coming to a close on the 21st of June, International Yoga Day. Make your way to a partner studio (featured below) or head to our website to make a donation.
Every donation is an expression of your gratitude and of your service to others.
Every donation has an impact.
