Outreach programs

Our outreach programs bring free, mindfulness-based yoga directly into communities that need it most.

Through partnerships with community groups, schools, government agencies, and other non-profits, we deliver classes to people who may not otherwise have access to yoga.

These programs are designed for individuals experiencing challenges such as mental health issues, addiction, trauma, poverty, violence, or homelessness. Each session provides a safe and supportive space for participants to explore movement, mindfulness, and self-care.

By meeting people where they are, our outreach programs help foster resilience, connection, and wellbeing in communities across Melbourne — with the vision to expand throughout Australia.

6 Week Free Yoga Program

We offer a free 6-week yoga program to eligible organisations that serve and support at-risk and underserved communities. Each class provides a safe and supportive space where participants are invited to connect with their bodies and build awareness through practices such as:

Being present in the moment

Exploring choice-making in movement and stillness

Taking effective action with confidence

Adjusting intensity to feel strength or release in the body

Connecting breath, body, and environment

This program is not about being the best at yoga — it’s about taking time for yourself, exploring movement at your own pace, and cultivating moments of calm, focus, and self-care.

Our approach is culturally sensitive and honours the diverse beliefs, values, and needs of every individual. The program is designed to empower participants with practical tools they can carry into daily life, helping to cultivate resilience, self-care, and wellbeing.

Feedback from our participants

Many Yogahood participants have experienced trauma, displacement, or other challenges. That’s why our programs are carefully tailored to support both mental wellbeing and physical health.

Jill, The Big Issue

"Diana has been a wonderful teacher. She has a calm presence and has been very positive and easy going with the women in the class. We have loved having her with us each week.”

Karlee, Mind Australia

"The Yogahood classes gave a space for clients to come together in a quiet and relaxing space and take time for themselves in a way that they would likely not otherwise do. It was a welcoming space that encouraged health, participation and wellbeing."

Hannah, The Orange Door

“The six week yoga program was a fantastic group activity centred on gentle nurturing movements. The sessions were peaceful, well paced and provided lots of options to cater for different abilities.”

Claire, Lynall Hall Community School

"Each session had a good mix of meditation, yoga poses and techniques to be more positive and calm the mind.”

Kirsten, STREAT

“The process of arranging the classes with Yogahood was a breeze and the instructor was flexible, punctual and kind. It is such a wonderful thing to offer our cohort.”
